Merryn will be reading from and talking about The Hidden Fires in a half-hour slot in the ‘Listen to the Land’ space at the Scottish Game Fair in the grounds of historic Scone Palace, near Perth.

From the Scottish Game Fair site:

“Our ‘Listen to the Land’ event is back for a second year of exciting talks given by speakers from all walks of rural life, come and learn from others, hear from their experiences, ask questions and share your own findings.  Everyone is welcome, we have talks and discussion groups running across the weekend open to all, no tickets required, no prior experience needed, just come along, grab a coffee, a seat and listen, ask questions and take away many ideas.”

The talk is free but entry to the Game Fair requires a ticket.

Two authors who write about nature and landscape in conversation about their recent books. Merryn will share from The Hidden Fires while Linda Cracknell will share from her new collection of essays, Writing Landscape. With readings, discussion and audience Q&A, this will be a relaxed, informal gathering with plenty of time to chat with both authors and get signed copies.

In an immersive event with readings, mountain images, audience Q&A and book signing, Merryn will tell the story of two women meeting across time in the Cairngorms through her book, The Hidden Fires: A Cairngorms Journey with Nan Shepherd.

Meet with author Merryn Glover at the Gairloch Golf Course Beach. We will explore the shoreline and draw from our senses to gather words and ideas for writing about nature. Back at Gairloch Museum, we’ll work these into a short piece of descriptive writing.

Open to anyone who can wield a pencil. No previous experience or special knowledge required.  Please arrive at the car park promptly. Spaces are limited, booking is essential.

Cairngorms words, music & images in an immersive exploration. Writer Merryn Glover and musician Hamish Napier take us into new revelations of the Cairngorm mountains with Nan Shepherd as muse and guide.

Glover and Napier enjoy a dynamic creative partnership, bringing together their words and music in the monthly Storylands Sessions and two Badenoch Heritage Festival performances, The Shepherds Tale (2021) and The Force K6 – Indian Contingent Story (2022). In a New Light is their latest collaboration with its full premiere at the Cairngorms Nature Festival. Through the inter-weaving of their work, the wild majesty and iridescence of the Cairngorms is revealed in a beautiful evocation of landscape, place and identity.

Books and CDs are available for purchase at the event and there will be plenty of time to talk with Hamish and Merryn over refreshments at the end.
