Me saying good-bye to @storylandssessions means saying Thank You to a LOT of people!
* our amazing volunteers and tutors. Too many to count, let alone name, but special thanks @jo.ziz, Bex, Piers, Rachel, Karen, Emma W, Sheila M, Ben & @sarahkb_wylie; Phil & @fiona147hawkins for all the home-baking; Robert Paisley, for the stunning photographs (many here @creativewilderness.uk); Claire Macdonald, who serves refreshments & a home-cooked meal to the team; Al Appleby, who does any job and holds me together!
& to my colleagues: Helen Pickles & co at @highlandfolkmuseum for hosting our writing workshops; my fellow writers Karen Hodgson Pryce, Andrea Turner & @scattyscribbler for fresh words
& the incredible `staff` team:
* quiet, capable Spad Reid as sound engineer
* wonderful Jacky Pankhurst as social media magician
* lovely @ailas.imagination, project officer and advocate for true cultural heritage
* Hamish Napier, funny, committed and insanely talented musician, he is also deeply kind. I could not have asked for a better co-dreamer, co-host and pal.
I know this team will take you forward into a wonderful new season next year.
For now, I celebrate with you what a rare and precious thing Storylands Sessions is. In a time when megalomaniacs and their machines seem hell-bent on destroying the Earth and all its creatures, this gathering of souls is an act of brave resistance. When we come together sharing the work of our human hands, our voices and our hearts, we prove that goodness is stronger than evil. How amazing are the combined powers of community, creativity and cake!
They bring out the best in us; they show us that the world – even in its suffering – remains bright and beautiful, and that we – even in our struggles – can love one another and know joy.
Stay brilliant and stay in touch ❤️
(And see the reel for more photos and some of Hamish`s music)
